I am however, a personal fan of luxury interior design and I am often called upon to create something stunning for my clients.
Many a times I hear... “I want the boutique hotel bedroom look” or “create me a little pied-à-terre with a luxury interior”.

Dark and dramatic interiors

A touch of marble
Another material commonly thought of alongside gold or brass, is marble. More than any other surface material, marble suggests luxury. It's use is common in kitchen and bathrooms but use it on furniture such as dining and coffee tables to bring that decadent luxury touch into any room. A great example is the TS console table seen below, available from Chaplins Furniture, it reflects tradition but with its unique minimalist clean feel, shows how elegantly it can be worked into a luxury home interior. With its veining, it is the ideal complement for the ever popular deco luxe monochrome schemes, but it also works splendidly alongside neutrals and warmer materials like wood and soft fabrics.

Luxury textures and textiles
When it comes to choosing softer fabrics, there are many that scream luxe. Leather and pure wool being good choices but velvet being top of our list for the ‘glam feel’. It can be used in larger pieces like sofas and beds or picked out in an accent piece to suit a space – maybe a single armchair or a couple of velvet cushions. A great way to achieve the luxe look if you're on a budget.
Another element we love to play with, alongside the materials within interiors, is over sizing. Over size artwork and pendants or chandeliers add a great feature to your room and draw attention to the quality and individuality of your chosen items. If you’re not sure where to find a quality furniture or art that exudes the luxurious appeal, then we recommend visiting a specialist design centre. They are ideal because they often run small numbers of pieces that won’t be seen everywhere and are able to order (or showcase) the latest designers – all at your fingertips.
Luxury design in the bedroom
In the bedroom an oversized designer custom bed is a must! Nothing will feel more ‘boutique hotel’ than stepping out of that in the morning. Leather or velvet are popular choices here when creating the look. Seen below, the Marshall bed with its superb Italian craftsmanship and perfect balance of luxury, flair and function make it a splendid choice for giving you that royal treatment. Dividing areas of a master suite for privacy, adding a dressing room or seating area as you'll find in many a luxe hotel worldwide is another big tick if your space allows. Bring luxe detail from the finest of hotels straight into your bedroom by using plush black, white or neutral towels and Egyptian bed linen with a high thread count as finishing touches.

In bedrooms we love to go for wallcoverings that emit a contemporary sophistication and give the room that little extra something. This doesn’t just go for adults; children's bedrooms also need to flow with the rest of your home and incorporate luxe detailing throughout alongside still being child friendly and spurring on the all-important imagination. Here we look for something unique and add a playful touch with hand painted prints on wall paper and soft furnishings (seen here, ‘the Carousel’ paper from Wild Hearts Wonder).
