Create Perfect Colour Wheel - Blue & White Interiors

Blue and white has to be one of my all time favourite colour schemes. Blue in all it’s tones is a classic, calming colour and when paired with the clean simple purity of white it is a winning combination.

It is an easy colour to work with if you stick to some simple rules it is hard to go wrong. Blue, wood and white is a really good starting point if you love neutral colour schemes but would like to experiment with adding some colour into your home. If you are updating your home from the greys and off whites that have been popular in recent years blue is an easy colour to add in. A bedroom for example, where grey and cream upholstered headboards have been a trend indecent years is easily and affordably updated with blue textiles and accessories.

When adding solid colour lighter tones of chambray and duck egg blue can work just as well with dark rich warm woods in a more formal decor scheme as they do with the light pines and bleached or painted woods of a coastal or more casual seaside themed home.

Blue and White Pattern

Adding pattern into your colour scheme is an easy way to bring interest and character into your room. There are so many traditional forms of pattern which are associated with this colour combination that it can be a starting point for many different schemes. In addition these patterns complement the solid tones and are easy to add in the form of fabrics such as curtains, upholstery, bedding, throws and cushions.

Classic patterns include toile de jouy, chinoiserie and willow pattern ceramics. They also includes coastal schemes with nautical stripes, woods and whites.

I love the play on scale in this design where the traditional willow pattern found in Chinese ceramics has been blown up in scale on the pelmet and upholstery.

In addition global and tribal influences can be found in the patterns of Morrocan and Spanish tiles and ceramics. Additionally the strong indigos of tie dye and ikat fabrics also provide a good contrasting colour pop as seen in this bedroom.

Blue and White now in-store

I'm spying all the trends here - The tropical plants alongside, rattan and basketry. A touch of metallic in the planter, baskets and coffee table as well as the geometrics of the cushion patterns.

Here's my pick of some other pieces that are currently in store to help you add a touch of blue and white to your home.
