Here at Create Perfect we love a client with lots of vision and love the challenge of
bringing it to life. So, we were really excited to work with Danny Mac (TV and
Theatre star) and his wife Carley Stenson (TV and movie star), as they began
renovating Danny’s unassuming childhood home. A 3-bed bungalow with two small
loft bedrooms.
Like many clients, they had a strict budget, space limitations and time restraints due
to the imminent birth of their first child. This was a 10-year plan coming to fruition and
they weren’t going to waste any opportunities.
The first challenge we faced was the budget. Being the height of the pandemic -
actors were hit hard as theatres were closed down. This meant everything
had to be carefully balanced and the budget had to stretch as far as it could. The use
of trade discounts and accounts was a big plus here.
We worked alongside some great brands to bring the dream to life. This included Farrow and Ball for the wall and furniture paints, Kandean for the flooring, Pushka Home for the kitchen and stair hardware and also Multi-turn who produced this beautiful wooden handcrafted staircase.
Second Challenge, space; Part of the garden had already been used to build
Danny’s mum’s new home, so they didn’t want to lose any more of the garden with
an extension. The roof needed replacing, so they made a great decision to increase
the ceiling height on the first floor. This allowed for almost 3x the space including a
secret room which was a great quirky feature.
With some clever rearranging of the downstairs rooms, a lot of steel, innovative
lighting and sleek sliding windows they had the modern spacious open planned home they always dreamed of.
The third challenge was time; Well, we couldn’t stop the imminent arrival. But we could
work our own little socks off ensuring she had a beautiful nursery to come home to.
Space for her parents to make meals and watch her grow. Quiet nooks for
storytelling and bedtime cuddles.
